The Ronald McDonald House in my home town has been here since 1987. I worked at the local hospital across the street, as a nurse for 31 years, starting in 1981. So I feel like I grew up with that house across the street. I worked 15 years in adult Surgery/Trauma ICU and 6 years pediatric ICU and have seen what that house means to the children and patients in the hospital. But I never knew what this house would eventually mean to me. I have decided to volunteer as the Lead Demonstrator for Stampin’UP! and provide fun, love and laughter to the families who reside there during this very stressful time in their life. Last night was my third event there and it has been such an awesome experience for me. Every single time I go, I can see the stress on the families faces, but within minutes, they are smiling and laughing and for a few minutes their stress is gone. One hundred percent have never stamped before. By the time we finish, they are so proud, they recruit more families to try it. And the whole time they are smiling, laughing and having fun. I cannot tell you how giving back in this way, has been so rewarding to me. I hope this house across the street and I, have a very long relationship.
